Default Banded steels, quick question...

Thinking about getting some banded steels done for my mk3 escort, just wondering what width would be suitable, and which steels you think would look best?

Thanks.

I reckon around 7.5-8 inch would be plenty, although not sure about arch work.
Mondeo steels would be cool, get some pictures up after

Hope that's of some help.

Ben.

Yeah they'd look pretty cool.
You're probably right, it would be worth it though!

Mondeo 16" steels are 5 stud.

You need some citroen 16" steels but the offset will be quite low, somewhere around et15-20 I think.

Any scrapyard mate, they're not hard to come by mate, though bare in mind they'll need shotblasting and painting after being banded, plus tyres.

15x8 in a suitable offset would look best I'd say. Always thought anything above 16 looked a bit tall on an Escort. Also the lower the diameter the wider your dished wheels look

And ford 4 stud only go up to 15" unless you got hold of some st170 space savers and got them banded. Offset might be a bit too high but spacers would sort that out.

So, for example 13" would look more dished than 16"?

Starting to like the idea of original mk3 13"'s done to 8"

what about tire availability?

with a 8 inch rim your looking at 215, 225's

are 225/45 R13's easy to come by?

In reality the dish is the same size, but the optical illusion of a 'squarer' size makes them look wider.

13s look a bit too small on a Mk3 I'd say as well. Tyre choice is very poor as well both in terms of sizes and brands.
15s are just right....

15's are as small as i would go... 13's look tiny with standard arches plus my brakes wouldn't fit under them :P

215?! I'd put that on a L200 or something of equal size.

8" wide with a 195, super stretched.

i've got 195 on my 7" wide wheels and they have a tiny amount of stretch. it doesnt matter what aspect ratio your tires are, tires that stretched will look stupid on a mk3 as the wheels will look tiny in the arches unless your running 17's

Shouldn't be to hard, plenty of tarmac rally cars will run wide wheels at the rear, and I'm pretty sure they need to be legal for road use (for road sections between stages), so you should be ok.
