F2 Maxi Escort @ Ford Fair
This one was at Croft on the Saturday, used to be white.
Top speed 110 mph but getting there on 6 speed sequential is rapid.
Competes in tarmac rallying now.

Not to sure mate but it wouldnt be the same engine now any way as the owner got it as a shell iirc and has built it up to what it is now.
You'll more than likely get massivewanger arrive in this thread soon and give you all the info as he is a fuckin nerd with info on um.

Fair enough, it looks a proper bit of kit, bet its absolutely awesome to drive full chat!
It's the gear box whicc makes these cars so fast!
Be the only thing mine is missing when done but will be something I'll save for.
Even the owner of this on Saturday on the camp site admitted mine will be faster lol but he'll be faster off of the line.

I am not a nerd! Much
Yeah this is the one that's been at Croft a couple of times, used to be white. Very nice of the owner to bring it down for us for Sunday, was a nice chap.
Not got too much info on it yet, but I think it was built from a Group A car that was driven by a bloke called Neil Hiorns, then was later converted into a kit car. It's actually a bit of an oddball (as most of them seem to be), with earlier kit car roll bars and rear suspension, but with the later Maxi body panels on it. Also one of a handful of RHD shells, only very few of those. It's just undergone a full rebuild apparently too, and was looking exceedingly clean! Shame he couldn't take it out on track, but had a slight gearbox leak apparently, so didn't want to chance it.
The one at Anglesey was P2 FMC, which is an ex-Gwyndaf car, the one used on Ulster and the Manx in '97. That is a proper proper Maxi, with revised roll bars and things compared to the one above. Also has a seven speed version of the sequential box, just for good measure

all Gwyndaf evan's rs2000's f2' and kit car maxis etc were built by the experts at Gordon Spooners who were known as GSE.
GSE built cars for Ford Motor Companys motorsport division Ford Motosport so you know how good they were, they also built rs2000's that were used in the european rally championship by the rally team that took over from ford motorsport running the world rally championship.
Gwyndafs top engineer is still available to work or advise on these special cars but not at Gordon Spooners any longer but at his own engineering company in Essex where else

Indeed. Don't think they were ever used in the world F2 championships to my knowledge, unless there were any privately run cars. Were used on selected world championship rounds (RAC being the obvious one).
Sadly, they never had the financial backing they deserved really!

P2 FMC is owned and run by Guy Woodcock and is probably out rallying at New Brighton promenade in september it is a very nice piece of kit and i believe is one of the last spec cars, Also Guy has a MK2 historic rally car which he can peddle very well.

Guy's car is proper. Very late, with a pretty different shell to the one pictured above. Was the first works Maxi built for the British Championship, has the seven speed gearbox in it and a few very trick bits compared to a lot of the other cars.
Is he running it at New Brighton this year? I did meet him a while back, but can't remember if he said he was or not!

I know the chassis builder. lives round the corner to me. these were raced and were so fast they were quicker than wrc on some tarmac stages hence why they then got the rules changed to 1600cc. the last ones had 305bhp!!!

They never broke the 300bhp mark. 286 I beleive was the best seen from the 2.0l i4. The exhaust port is poor designed and needs larger valves which couldn't be changed for the f2000 regs.
