depends on what is wrong with no. 3 IMO
the bottom end isnt ideal for big power with how much its been bored already, did the crank have a grind as well?
also what was the deck height of the head?

well i personally think the top ring has broken allowing oil into the cylinder unless a guide seal has split, you saying the bottom end isnt ideal for big power 400 is quite enough for some people and not everyone is after big power so i dont think that comes into it really, crank is .25 and unsure on head thickness, was fine for me until the smoke.
when i say big power i mean anything beyond stage 3.
if its just a ring that's gone and no damage has been caused to the bore, i'd say £1250 ish for the block & head complete as a unit

the best advise i can give you is to whip the sump and head off and have a look at what the problem is. Otherwise, IMO, you've got to give someone an incentive to buy it with the problem.
people buying as it is will be taking a risk, would you buy your engine for £1500 with that problem?
i dont mean to come across as being harsh or anything, just being realistic

Thing is you could buy a runner out of a breaker thats done a million miles for £1500 and its not gonna last five minutes is it really?, this is all brand new so yes i would pay that for an engine especially if i can hear it run, engine's in that price range should be inspected etc before fitting anyway in my eyes whilst its out. I may pull it apart and sell the components seperatley as im sure i could recover the money that way.
