Default Focus MK1 digital heater/aircon panel

Hey,

Anybody know if a MK1 Focus Ghia digital heater panel with fit strait in my Focus (which currently has the twisty dial fan and temp switches)?

Or will i need extra wiring?

Essentially, they both do the same thing, its just that one is digitally adjusted, the other (mine) manually...

Would love to know the same cause I fancy climate control.

For starters though there is a UV sensor on the dash, but I don't know about anything else.

The control panel is a straight swap for the twist dials.

But changing it over will do fuck all as - in order to make the auto system work - you need to rip out the entire heater matrix and fit the auto one which has stepper motors instead of twisty cables.

To change the heater matrix is a dashboard out job and then remove all the crash bar and shit behind it. The air con system needs to be professionally degassed before you start then regassed afterwards (£50 a time) and that's before you tackle the wiring side of it - EATC was only ever fitted to cars with GEM modules (facelift models) so if you have a pre-facelift car (which runs a PCM) then you will run into some interesting side effects. Losing the use of your heated front and rear screens being the most noticeable.

I'be done the conversion before. It's a complete fucking pain in the arse to do and considering the sacrifices to be made, not to mention the costs involved, it's REALLY not north the hassle.

P.S. The EATC system is shit anyway. In auto mode you either get red hot or ice cold air until the desired temperature is reached (usually fucking ages) and if you set the temp manually you might as well be using manual dials.

All in all - don't bother.

So you can just plug one in and it would work? Just not the Automode?

You'll have absolutely nothing, no heating and ventilation controls at all.
