rwd focus rs powered focus rs
that sounds confusing lol
basically i have a focus rs which is now having a full make over for more power etc , now after speaking with a few people they reckon i should go rwd but keep the focus rs lump and use that .
i quite like the idea tbh and i dont know of one thats been done as of yet , quite a few cossie ones but no focus rs powered ones.
ive got quite a few questions regarding going rwd,
am i right in thinking the engine will bolt up to a cossie t5 box?
what flywheel and clutch would i use?
would i need a custom sump?
all the rear end would be cosworth as would the rest of the running gear,
any ideas on the thermostat as on a focus its on the gearbox side of the engine and obviously in rwd format this would be up against the bulkhead?

cochyn or how every you spell it was gna do the same but just got a cossie powerd one instead he mite be worth pming as he did talk ag about doing it ,be easier to drop a cossie motor in lot less hassel
would be feasible i would say, mite be worth checking if any of the classic escorts have them in then you will have a good idea what you need to make the engine rwd, i would of thought its been done then you just have the tunnel and back axle to sort which is fairly simple if your handy,

Yes you probably need a new sump, although depending how far forward or back the engine sits over the crossmember, then you may be able to adapt one of the 3 variations of Zetec sump. To do it properly buy a RWD Zetec sump conversion from www.retroford.co.uk
The same goes for the water rail kit from the same company.
It's a cool idea IMO!
good plan, fancied doing something similar with mine, think i'd go the YB route, in case i wanted more power and chatter.
will keep an eye on your thread....best of luck with the project
