Looking for some help with my amal valve on my s1 rs turbo
only running 4/5 psi even with the amal unpluged its the same. When I start the rs it clicks once and when I rev the engine the valve clicks like mad I would say above 3000rpm. So I changed the valve for another one and still the same.
Ive checked the power to the valve and when its on tickover its about 1 vault and when you rev the engine it goes to 12 vaults.
Ive also followed the wire from the valve back to the ecu and that has consutility so no brakes in that.
I tried earthing it to the battery and it stops it clicking when I rev the engine so I took it up the road and it boosts upto 15psi.
Any help would be fantastic.

I have already explained on another site that the Amal valve should not click constantly.
For this reason you need to check the wiring.
Going by what you have said there is an issue with the earth side of the amal valve wiring. Just put a wire direct to earth from the valve and leave the power as it is and see if that sorts it.

The valve fails safe, i.e. if it loses power you will not bleed off any boost, in other words you can only produce what your actuator will allow.
The valve has a permanent live, the earth is switched by the ECU, so an input is TELLING it duff info hence it's acting the way it is, I would check TPS output, a bad calibration can cause this issue on a Cosworth but not knowing MFI intimatly I can not say for sure.
When the valve has power it opens and allows boost to "bleed off".

If for example the MAP sensor is faulty then it will be fuelling wrong.

Jano if he does that then he may just be masking a problem with the ECU, MAP sensor in the ECU or ACT sensor! Better to try another ECU (known working) and ACT sensor than just run a wire and bypass it.

Just want to say a huge thanks Karlos I like to think I am good with rs turbos after owning 12 over the years but this one got me. Changed the ecu and its fixed the fault also fitted a -31 actuator and set the boost to 12 psi tonight and all is great just going to book it into woodford as they are 10 mins from me to checked over fueling wise.
And another huge thanks to milesy for letting me buy his ecu.
Its people like this that give these forums a great name Thanks
