temp gauge usually comes with a sensor already, you will need to either drill and weld a boss into the sump, or buy a sump plug adaptor from burtons

I think the mechanical ones are perminantly fitted with the sensor so you have little choice but to weld it into the sump.

If you are using the sump plug adaptor, you can do it without changing the oil - Just make sure it's not hot, and whip it out and then put in the new adapter with the sensor already fitted. Use a clean bowl and you could even put the small amount of oil you loose back in the engine

Go through the trouble of having to dispose of the leaked oil or put it back in the engine - and save money? Not a hard choice

But I know what you mean mate

Any ideas on where to put the gauge on Escos to be functional yet not compromise any ventilation and stuff like that?

Looks nice. Wonder how to do it nicely on Escos. I really like that place to hold small things under the radio

My ashtray is full of turbo heat-shield mounting pieces Must put those in place at last...

I don't know if you get those in UK but under the radio I keep the small print-outs I get each time I pay for parking in the city and all those call-girls adverts I get behind wipers (seen those in London phone booths - we get those behind wipers, lots of them)
