If you are using the sump plug adaptor, you can do it without changing the oil - Just make sure it's not hot, and whip it out and then put in the new adapter with the sensor already fitted. Use a clean bowl and you could even put the small amount of oil you loose back in the engine
or don't be pikey and top it up with fresh oil
Go through the trouble of having to dispose of the leaked oil or put it back in the engine -
and save money? Not a hard choice
