MFI on track?
don't want to start a big arguement regarding mfi vs efi, i just want to know from those using mfi on trackdays, is it reliable? obviously for this assume all sensors are working correctly. will the heat and constant high revs cause issues for sensors and the metering head?
thats what i wanted to hear, i want to take the car on track, so far i've been using my integra type r which take abuse all day long, but i want to use the escort instead now and in time i would like to cage it and carbon roof etc, but i don't want to spend 1000s right now on an efi conversion. i want to get the best components when i'm doing it, just not now?

and my mfi is working fine, i was just wondering if others were getting on fine running thier rs turbos as ford intended on track.
Took mine on track when standard and it took the abuse all day was all over type r's.
As long as it is setup properly before hand then you should not have a problem just keep an eye on oil and water temps if you can.
You should not need to rev all the way to the limiter anyway as its a turbo car you should be using the torque not the revs.

Oil pressure gauge is handy cos it should identify low pressure and a worn engine. You can get a different pressure switch which illuminates the low pressure warning light on the dash at a higher pressure. The idea is it alerts u so you have enough time to switch the engine off and save it. Oil temp is good as you should not thrash it when too low and the pressure is too high. Similarly when the temp gets too high the pressure drops so if it goes above 120 C I would slow down. Turbo cooler is like a radiator for the turbo as S2 turbos are water fed for cooling. I have one fitted but not sure it makes that much difference.
i was just wondering was there any need for it, even on the hottest days here i've never had an issue with water temp, only issue was with heat soak on my old interwarmer, put an airtec fmic in there recently so hoping that issue is sorted. i usually bring the car in few a cool down after 15-20 miles on the track
Is that hottest days on track or driving about the country cos your car will get alot hotter thrashing round a track. Could also depend on the track layout i.e long straights at full throttle or short straights spent accelerating.
Should not be a big problem though as long as you are not running massive boost to create the heat but if you are still on Mfi I would not expect it to be much above 15psi anyway.

finally had it on track, did 110 miles on track on friday, i think my timing is slightly retarded, it was running out of puff at 5k rpm, still doing 2:15 around the international circuit with a passenger, and probably only 130bhp. MFI was faultless though, will work on getting suspension sorted before i up the power
tyres are toyo R888, Willwood 4 pots and willwood track pads, ferodo dot5.1 fluid, standard rear brakes (obviously serviced carefully) goodridge hoses.
spax adjustable damping suspension
need new tires after friday though
