Default Rev gauge wont work

Hi not too long ago I put an efi rs turbo engine in my escort. Had a few miner probs and one is that I cant figure out how to wire the rev counter? I have wired all the car up myself and its on ofab, the car was originally a xr3i efi. The way its wired I rev it to roughly 3k rpm and its only reading 500 rpm. where is best place to get a direct reading? Cheers

The reading is taken from the coil negative (This of course is the negative for the counter), how it is wired now?

If ECU has provision yes, the live is supplied by the ignition and the green needs to go to the said location, at the moment (As standard) it will go to the coil.

Its pin 3 from multi plug but its only reading half the revs ie if I rev like 4000 it reads 2000 ish. I took a direct feed from pin 11 of edis sensor n I get nothing? Any ideas lol
