Default Turbo Coolant Pipes

Anyone know the best place to get replacement coolant pipes (the metal ones). Mine have been weeping for a while and the input one has just shit itself tonight.

Mines a 2wd with a 2wd manifold and T34 turbo. Im assuming they will just be standard 2wd ones that I need??

I bought some braided ones from ebay a few months ago. They say direct fit but I had to rotate my comporessor housing round to clear the 2wd manifold shoulder/flange. Very well made I will add, but definitely required some fitment work. At around £35 they are cheaper than decent quality braided hose with suitable fittings. I had previously tried to make my own, however the issue I had was finding banjo bolts the right thickness.

Yep they're the ones. And the seller got a proper arse on with me when I mailed him to say they didn't fit straight on. Told me I didn't have the knowledge to fit them or very similar! I'm just finishing off a full rebuild on my 2wd saph and I've done everything myself, plus I trained for Ford at a main dealer so I think I do! lol

I'll try to find a pic of my turbo once I had fitted them and post it up. Basically instead of the oil/collant fittings being at 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock so-to-speak I had to rotate the centre housing so now they are closer to 10, 1, 4 & 7 o'clock. If I remember correctly I had to bolt on the head side before fitting to the manifold and the oil return underneath required modding to stretch across to the new angle.

Well made though, and good quality fittings. Expect some modding to fit though.

I also had to switch the inlet and outlet coolant pipes around. I did ask CR Turbos 1st and they said it didn't make a difference which was inlet and outlet so that was good enough for me. The turbo is a fresh rebuild from them too so it's not like it wasn't put together correctly.

Looks good. Sounds like a proper pain it the arse. Think i will try and get some replacement metal ones for now and maybe go that route if the turbo / exhaust comes off in the future.

I bet the leak was around the join between the pipe and ring the banjo goes through ?
Ford used some cheap nasty rubbish material when they joined these two parts together, it is too brittle and can crack.
The PERMANENT 100% EFFECTIVE cure for about £15 is to have these SILVER SOLDERED, it is called silver soldering but is actually brazing but with silver, you will not in a million years break these once joined, so find a local engineering firm that do silver soldering, or even better a retired guy that makes model steam engine/trains as this is fave way on these joining pressured fittings/pipes together, I used my ex's grandad, he makes 1 off steam trains, some taking 3-4 years, every single part hand made.

It sure was. Bumped the end of the pipe under the turbo after a run and 'tttiiiissssss' Barely touched it, so it must have been very brittle.

Im popping into Pirtek tomorrow and see if they can make me some up with heat resistant flexible pipe with the banjos on the end.

If that fails, I will try getting them soldered.

Not long enough, caught me on his sofa with his grand daughter, he was not impressed, as we were not married, I told him "she made me do it, she's bigger than me", I am 5' 9 1/2", she was 6' 4", and wore 4 inch heels!!

If not, my mate runs a Engineering company and he said he could get one of his lads to remove all the old stuff and Tig weld them up. Will probably go the free route and have them welded. Just got some new banjo bolts and washers too. Feckin cossies. The cars gonna be vertually new by the time its finished with me

dont think you can get the standard pips from ford anymore plus they are mega expensive,mine done the same got that pipe from ford it was £130 thats going back around 6 years

I tried Pirtek myself, and they could supply hosing no problem. However the only banjo bolts they had were too big. I still have them sitting spare as they dont do refunds. £12 odd as well, just for the banjo - the bolt was arounf £9 extra!!! Only thing they offered was to shave the head of the bolt down for me but that didn't work either as it was still too wide with the banjo to fit between the manifold and turbo housing.

I can get all the banjo sizes, most around £3-£4, DON'T TIG weld it, it's too brittle, braizing with std braizing rods would be MUCH better than TIG, but if you want it silver soldered which is easily the best way to go, send them to me, but around 1 week turn around as have to drop off and collect from a mate 25 miles away, if I'm lucky and he's not busy will do there and then.

Took them up today. Mate got one of his welders to remove the old brazing, cleaned it all up and TIG'd them all back up. Looks good and solid.
