Default Please help ,,F,in computers ,,,,,

Hi all

I have a ,,well 2 problems with my computer ,,

1, When i try to go online ,,i click to connect and the box comes up and i have to enter my password ,,but when i try to tick the box to store my password ( to save me doing it every time ) it wont let me

2, when online every 20 mins or so it clicks of line for no reason and i have to click back onto reconnect ,,enter bloody password AGAIN then it connects ,,then 20 mins later same again anyone help PLEASE

in your network connections, do right click, properties and see if youve got "client for microsoft networks" on the connection. without it, it won't save your password

as for the disconnecting... i dunno sorry, could be WAY too many things

Paul take no notice of Jim as i have the same problem as you and i have 'client for microsoft networks' on my connection! Maybe it didn't install properly when you 1st put the software in for the net?

its weird that its always around 20 mins when it dissconects, maybe ring your net provider up and tell them your connection ramdomly hangs and see if they can sort u out?

What o/s do you have and are you on dial up or broadband?
I think somewhere there is an option to disconnect after so many minutes of innactivity.

Yep there is, just found it

Right click your internet explorer icon for properties , then click on connections, click on set up for the dial ups and then click on advanced. You should see a disconnect if idle box and as default it's set at 20mins

Operating system paul, IE windows 95 98 xp etc it helps when trying
to solve problems knowing what OS you are using.

Paul (fat cuuunt) .....if you're using Windows 98...I seem to remember this being a bug - shame you werent closer otherwise I'd of popped over & sorted it for you - or if I'd of had a cossie I'm sure I could have been persuaded to do swapsies!!! LMAO!!

I'll try and dig out the fix....but you'd prob make it worse trying to fix it!!!
