After exhausting all aspects of my rst running pants, I decided to get my pistons skimmed.

Quite glad I took the engine to bits. Say hello to pistons 1 and 4.






whats happened here then?

probably ran like a sack of shit, very oily and heavy on the breather, off of cylinders on idle, smokey, etc

Thats the wierd thing, it ran alright, Not any smoke at all.

Luckily they didnt move aboutin there. I noticed the cracks and had to pry out the broken sections.

common signs of uneven wear to number 1 and 4 due to the inlet manifold which causes det at high boost.

Whats the crown condition as you can see lots of pickup on the sides.

Lots of carbon around one side of each piston. Quite a thick build up.
