As on a budget you can get some brackets made/make yourself and use FRS mk1 discs(325mm) with your current 4 pots, very BIG difference in stopping power for around £150 all in.
I know some one soon who will be selling a big brake kit, but that's not budget money, it's 8 pots water cooled and 380mm discs!!

Exactly how much of a difference will the bigger discs make ? wont it look strange cosmetically with big discs and tiny calipers ?
introduce the frs brembos as well if you look on ebay fiat 20v turbo ones are the same and can ber picked up real cheap and they look nice as well as good stopping power

If you look at fudgys build thread (blue sierra 3door zetec turbo) there are pics of the brackets he had made up basiclly a straight 8mm bar with 4 holes in it. you have to grind a small part of the calpiers off but nothing too scary!
cheers,
Phil
