Default Need Timesert fitted to cylinder head in Essex

Hi

anyone know of someone who could fit a timesert insert in Essex ,onto a Sapphire

cosworth 2WD cyclinder head ,its one of the camshart bearing cap studs.

You mean helicoil? Can do this your self if good with tools? Done my pals head in situ.

nah,helicoil is different to timesert,and from what I have read,helicoil`s dont do so well
in ali ,and considering that the cyl head has had 6 studs already timesert`d,it looks the best method.

Fair play.... never used timesert and have been a machinist/toolmaker for ten years. Believe they are used as a last resort because of the insert being larger than a helicoil.

A helicoil if fitted properly will be as strong as the original thread, we use them at work and have never had any issues.

Ime I've found timeserts to be better over the years, but a helicoil would be perfectly acceptable here, as it is extremely low stress, and torque, despite how tight some do them up!!

timeserts are far superior to helicoils but as mentioned above a helicoil will be fine for this repair
