does any know if rs turbos suffer from failing crankshaft seals or oil pump seals as ive got oil pissing and i mean pissing out in that area!!!!any ideas????????
if the seals have been in there from new, they are proberly just about had it, theres a small rubber seal on the oil pump could be that, or the gasket around it, not a very nice job with the engine in!.
ive had both ends of mine leak before!
I hope for your sake it isnt the seal at the gearbox end cos you may as well take the engine out to do that!
the other end (ie oil pump end) isnt too bad as you 'can' (although prob not recomended) do the seal with the engine in.. i just undid the left hand engine mount and got my mate to sit on the engine while i took the oil pump etc off and replaced the seal!

lol...if it is the gasket...make sure u take your time when putting the new gasket on! i have known people having to take the gasket off 3 -4 times before it sits right! if it aint on right your car wont run!
the way i done mine was to stick it to the sump with Evo Stick and left it for a while as it set...then lifted it up on the sump and put it on...very awkward angles you gotta offer it up on but can be done...the awkward part is mainly keeping the gasket on the sump on the gearbox side yet lining up the sump on the pickup side

funny enough after replying to your post earlier, ive put my engine back together today, started it up and oil pissed out of the oil pump gasket and on the sump gasket where it joins the oil pump, i used all ford gaskets when i built the bottom end last week.
Today i took the oil pump off and sump (not a nice job) and got a new gasket, i used some red instant gasket selant on the sump and in between the oil pump and block and it solved the problem, i would advise you to do the same for the sake of a couple of quid on selant!!

gotta be the worse job in the world to do im sick of mine now, mines now developed a leak from the gearbox side!. think its the main oil seal, but i still do have to put in 2 more sump bolts the ones right inside of the bellhousing!! so it could be that
