Default AP brakes under Sharktooth wheels

Well, I finally took a couple of shots. AP calipers, discs and bells. 295 X 25mm discs, CP5100 calipers. DS2500 pads - I should really get DS3000 but this was just a test fit. They squeeze in to a standard 4X4 Sharktooth alloy with about 0.5mm clearance - all on a 2WD Sapph.

Looks stealth! love it. wouldn't fancy running a 0.5 mm clearance though! the slightest wheel flex and you scraping. you gonna put some spacers on?

0.5mm is not going to be enough... The wheels will flex and the wheel bearings too.

Besides that, not sure about the pads: fast road kits better stick to fast road pads, or you risk boiling the fluid and/or warping the rotors (comp. rotors are 32 or 36mm thick and flow a lot more air in addition to be much more robust, and comp. calipers for rotors of that size have titanium pistons and/or water cooling to avoids transferring too much of the vastly increased heat generated by comp. pads). Your wallet will also love the increased rotor life... YMMV of course, just my 2ct

I doubt lattice wheels will fit - they didn't fit over my old calipers without a tiny bit of rubbing and they have less clearance in the spoke area.

Sharktooths are strong wheels - I don't think there will be any flex but I'll find out first time I race it.

Going to go with DS3000 pads or maybe Mintex 1166 (I think) for racing - just need to pull out the wallet and buy some.

I do have wheel spacers - 5mm I think so may use them.

One thing I'm struggling with at the moment is bleeding the bloody things. I have massive girling cylinders - 2.5 inches across - and I want to use a Pressure bleeder but the universal adaptor cap that comes with the Sealey pressure system is shit and won't hold pressure so I think I need to make a new cap with an airline pressure connector valve thing connected to it. What a pain! Anybody have any bright ideas?

Charlie do these caliper run the same pads as a 5200 series? I have a few packs of Mintex race pads i have had for a few years, not sure on the number will need to look.

Thanks Nash but the pads are a bit smaller.

Surely 0.5mm of clearance will not be enough especially if your tracking it as well as i'd the heat generated whilst on the track would make the calipers expand slightly????

We will find out

I think they will be OK but will probably use 2mm spacers to be sure.

Sorry to bring up an old post but does anyone know if this setup would fit behind 3 door wheels as I want to improve my brakes but would like to keep standard wheels if possible, have thought about changing wheels but have changed my mind.

Thanks
