Default RS1800 engine into a xr2i-loom help?

hey all, ive picked up a rs1800 engine and going to put it in the 2i to replace the cvh. Just wanted to know if i buy an si loom for the car and an rs1800 engine loom, will it be a case of plug and play, or will you still have to re-do the connections? sorry if its been asked befor but ive done a search and found nothing...

Any advice or links would be great, thanks, Dan

The Si Loom will fit the RS1800 engine fine, but you will need the "CULT" RS1800 ecu and MAF. The "CULT" ecu has Internal EDIS like the Si ECU's, the Earlyer RS1800 & Xr2i 16v's where external EDIS and was a different ecu and loom. you will need the 16 valve engine mounts ,or modd the 8 valve ones.

You will need to replace the 8 valve Rad with a 16 valve one, Unless like me you fit a RS turbo alloy item and get some Roose Motorsport hybrid pipes. (I have a RS1800 powered Si which is in the process of being Zetec turboed)

EDIS = Electronic Distributorless Ignition System, is an ignition system that does NOT require a cam position signal. It can function with just a variable reluctor crank position sensor and a 36-1 tooth wheel.
