It has been done but not sure what you would need as the Zetec isn't a North-South configuration, so you would have to find a bellhousing gearbox to use, we also have the model you mention thats the CVH R2A engine.

Zetec will fit the box thats in. You may need to use a 1.8 flywheel. 1.8 cvh sierra engine mounts almost fir the zetec, so they can be reused. Sump needs to be modded or use retro ford one. The 1.8 sierra cvh sump can be made to fit but its not great.
Also a water rail relocation kit is required.

The early none pats mondeo loom and ecu can be used to run it or use a EEC 2 from a Fiesta 1.4 mk3 this will run the spark for carbs.

Kverna, have you a link to your 3 door?

Cheers for the replies,i thought i could use box as most fords use same bolt pattern,i heard or read somthing about only having half clutch travel when used as rwd as the clutch fork pivots differently any thoughts on this,i can do a decent job of fabricating things so mounts and sump i can do just not sure about clutch,not too bad with wiring too,so its eyes peeled for early mondeo and get stuck in cheers stu

IIRC you'll need a bearing on the input shaft also, but contact retroford as they know what's what.

robrs2: Old sig I'm afraid, as the cars been sold. Now I have a mk1 fiesta with rwd conversion

Cheers guys got my shoping list starting to collect bits now,this is the plan;

2.0 silver top zetec

Modified CVH sump(can use origional starter then i think)

Modified oil pick up

Modified CVH engine mounts

New spigot bush

1.8 zetec flywheel and crank sensor

Hybrid clutch(not sure which but think rs turbo may do??)

Fabricated water rail

Ive found a company near me that does Bike carb conversions with programable ecu,3 wire hook up and your away,thats where most of the money will go.

Any comments on this Cheers Stu
