ST170 discs are 24mm wide instead of the 20mm of the rear 4x4 discs, so not out of the question, esp with a already used set of pads would fit, the offset is only 1mm different so not worth worrying about, but a lot of effort for 27mm larger discs, is it worth it ?, adaptor plates easy to make out of 8mm steel, and a bit of drilled machined bar.
Not noticed it done but certainly do able.

Thanks for your reply tabs i thought the st170 fronts where 22mm wide. I need new pads and disks on the back any way so was thinking of doing this as a 300mm upgrade rather than paying for a compbrake kit was gonna mock up the brackets out of wood then get them machined by a local engineering firm didn't fancy cutting 8mm steel with a grinder.

cheers,
Phil

You don't even need to mock up, all the dimensions are known, just need a 8mm plate each side to suit the caliper spacing(bolts), then another pair 13.5mm further out, and two 8mm spacers.
If not sure draw out on paper easy to do, I'd just use regular mild steel for this, DON'T use stainless steel!!
Sure saves a huge amount of money this way, but discs are defo 24mm, can find you some 22mm in the book of words most likely if wanted ?

"book of words" ?, just my term for the EBC catalogue that has these details in it.
Hardly thick, intelligent enough to ask, when unsure!!
