Default New Cambelt noisy 1.8 Zetec

Hi,

I had my Cambelt changed on a Mondeo 1.8 Zetec but now it sounds like its on too tight.... noisy on idle but is quiet when it warms up.

It was all quiet before the change.

Any ideas?

thanks

What sort of noise is it ?, I've noticed some belts can be noisy when cold, proper belt dressing sorts this out, so they are quiet all the time.

OK, so dropped a little silicon on the drive belt, the one going round the alternator etc. Went quiet immediately....for a few hours.

Belt looks OK, but I guess best thing is to replace it - am I right in thinking that this isn't too difficult?

Try some talcum powder, works for months at a time, and makes the engine smell of babies bums!!
No seriously it works, it creates a tiny amount(enough) friction between belt and pulleys to stop the noise.
I did actually mean the timing belt can be noisy in the first reply, but if it is the "fan" belt as it went quiet, then it's that obviously, different makes can be very different in this area.
My dads mondy is done about every 3 months for instant cure, with a tiny amount sprinkled on the inner ribbed section of the belt.
