why is my escort rs turbo 16cvh engine blowing the oil filler cap off but wont suck
changed gasket, valves oil stem valve seals and still blows out of the oil filler cap but wont suck, it keeps blowing oil filler cap off it wont suck and keep oil filler cap on

any advise would be helpful asap thanks steve

 

piston rings ,by the sounds of it

 

if its the rings will the compression be pushing the air down passed the pistons into the sump and up through the oil filler cap

yes thats what normally happens mate ,i had my old turbo do the exact same thing

 

what are the breather pipes like? sure these being blocked and full of gunk can cause this?

 

had that problem as well, but even after cleaning them mine still popped the
cap off when the boost came on, turned out to be worn rings.
but my quick fix till i had time was to put a self tap screw threw the cap into
the rocker cover to keep it on ruff but worked a treat.

 

that is just a bodge. Best rebuilding ur bottom end before it gets worse and you throw a rod through the block.

 

I had the same problem on my track car.

Before you do anything, if you are running the OEM breather, either clear it out or buy a Bailey breather.

Worked for me, no more filler cap blown off or smoking like a bastard on overrun.
