Hi Guys, I've just got my cossie out of storage and when its cold it takes a good 2 to 3 minutes of near constant cranking to start it but once its warm its perfect, it has good fuel pressure and a good spark, I've changed all 3 temp sensors and its made no difference. This fault was there when I put it in storage last year but now I want it fixing, Any ideas please, NMS checked it over last year and gave it a clean bill of health but the problem is still there!
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

There is only one temp sensor that being the CTS? There is another one for the gauge but this would not effect the running of the car what so ever.

Perhaps the plugs are not giving a strong enough spark? Although storage shoulden't of effected them or perhaps just damp in the ignition system from storage, I.E condensation in the dizzy?

Has the battery got good charge.is the fuel fresh.apparently letting a car stand for a long time the oil can go very thick and cause starting problems.car could be running very rich or lean on start up

How old is the fuel filter ?, are you getting decent pump voltage ?, has the pump been rewired ?.
The filter ideally needs doing every year, very important on stored cars, the bacteria in the fuel tank love the conditions and soon cause fuel degradation and filter issues.
If all this is ok and spark etc is ok, then the cold start mapping could well be a bit on the lean side, you could try just GENTLY squeezing the fuel return line as this will up the rail pressure, and hence more fuel whilst someone cranks it for you, if this helps you know it is lack of fuel.
Once hot check the CO is around 2- 2.5%.

Thanks for the reply's guys, I re wired the Pump last year and it was a new 044 pump and filter the year before, I think if anything it's over fuelling. It's on a L8 ecu with a MSD closed loop system on greys, I have also changed the Lambda sensor as well to no avail.

if it is temp related, maybe a wiring problem if the sensor change had no effect. best would be to measure through the ecu plug what kind of values you got.

 

have you tried for loose/broken wires in the connection blocks on your sensors paul .

i seem to remember faulty map sensor maps senors causing similar running probs too

 

Obviously in that case your CO won't be, well shouldn't be anything like 2- 2.5%, I think they are nearer 0.65%, but don't quote me on that ask stu/james.

Finally sorted it guys, it was the earth wire to the map sensor connection!!
