Default Please help! Identification and advice needed

Edited for clarity as to what I still need help with. All questions answered are in Red and those I still need solutions for are in Blue. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Hi all. I am rebuilding my 2wd sapphire and have a couple of issues when putting the engine bay back together. I stripped my old one 5 yrs ago and my memory is not that good! lol I've got some pics below and need help identifying some of it and what needs to go where ie bits I may be missing and empty holes!

On the side of the plenum is a 'star' with a threaded hole in the middle. As if it were a compass, East is connected to the fuel regulator, what is North, West and South for and where do they go? And what should be screwed in the middle? Answered by RS Shaun

On this pic I have the 2 braided fuel hoses coming up from the metal fuel pipes under the car. They have coloured connectors to the metal pipes - Red and White. The red one is shorter than the White one by about a foot. Where do these go? Answered by RS Shaun

In this pic can anyone help as to where these 2 plugs go to? Any ideas on these peeps? The bigger one is Red and both are push fit on the same 'offshoot' from the loom.

This is the bottom of the regulator, but what goes on the bottom of it? Answered by RS Shaun

In this pic I want to know where the black hard pipe goes to that comes from the silver round thing on the fuel rail? Answered by RS Shaun

In this pic I need 3 things please. Where does the short black hose at the top connect to? What connects to the thermostat housing? And the blue silicon hose on the left is attached to the sump. Where does the top end go to? Answered by RS Shaun and thermostat is to a heater

And no picture of this, but where does the crank position sensor plug into? I seem to have 6 Ford plugs on the engine loom that are the same colour - injectors and 2 more. Any help on what these are for please? Any ideas please guys? Or a way I can test them?

Almost there! There is 2 identical black Ford 3 pin plugs on the engine loom. One is for the MAP sensor and the other goes under the plenum (TPS?) but how do I get them the right way round as they seem to fit in either? Any ideas please guys? Or a way I can test them?

Lastly, I have both a Red and a Black Throttle Position Sensor. Which should I use and what is the difference? I should explain this is a different engine to the original so I have a couple of duplicate parts.

Many thanks in advance guys. Can I please ask when replying to state details of which pic etc you are referring to, as will be viewing on my phone at the car as opposed to a pc. Or post a pic if poss to help me out. I know this is long, but thank you for your time and anticipated help.

Plenum centre threaded hole is for a brown ACT sensor.
Another plenum outlet will go to map sensor.

The black hose will go to the bottom of your turbo.

Thank you RS Shaun. Much appreciated. I lost the pics I took when I stripped it down so hence a little bit lost at mo.

The Red and Black sensors I mentioned in original post are TPS's. Can anyone tell me the difference?

Doesn't matter mate!
1 for map sensor
1 for fuel reg vac
Middle threaded for brown ACT sensor
Just block the spare one if your not using a boost gauge mate

Thanks again! So I guess as I will be using a boost gauge I can connect it to the spare hole in plenum?

The two "push-on" plugs look like they connect to the coil. Smaller one is probably for the rev counter.

The little push on plug looks like it's the one for the oil switch, on the side of the block!

Ref the 2 plugs, the bigger one is to the starter motor [its the trigger wire] and the smaller one is oil light switch on left side of block, where the oil feed pipe is for the turbo!

Is that a piece of silicone hose you have used from the fuel rail to the regulator?

The red tps is an original 2wd sensor designed to work with a L6 ecu (std 2wd) The black one is from a later 4x4 car running an L8 ecu. (std 4x4)

Thanks for the extra replies guys. ref: Paul16v Yes it is silicon hose. Was fitted on the inlet/fuel rail when I bought it. I was thinking of replacing with braided anyway, but why do you ask Paul?

I thought it looked like silicone water hose, petrol will perish silicone hose very quickly mate it is not supposed to have fuel running through it, I would deffo replace it with some propper high pressure fuel hose before letting petrol through it or running the car
