Default Mk1 Focus RS engine cutting out

Just bought a mk1 focus rs and it seems to cutt out when the revs drop approching traffic lights or slowing down for cars, the battery light comes on then it just dies. i have changed the TPS and seems to be better but still doing it, not sure if changing the TPS has helped at all. It seems to do it once the car has been driven hard and temp is up. Its like there is not enough revs to keep the engine turning over, but it idle's fine just below 1000rpm.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Ben

As said, if it has atmospheric d.v. then bin it!
But if not check the crankcase breather hose to manifold line which has a white 1-way valve on it. Prone to splitting.

Recirc was factory fitted so would be massive improvement. Choice of valve is yours mate. I have a spare brand new one but as I'm not gold member I can't sell on here so be on eBay.

Stay away from silly twin piston dump valve, stick with recirc valves. I had a turbosmart recirc with B.O.V. port, worked a treat and gave a nice release instead of the typical ptssh! sound.

When you do fit them, normally you have to reset the ECU for it to relearn. Simply disconnect battery over night, restart in the morning with all the fans switched on, head lights etc. and allow to fast idle for about a minute or so. You may need to do it once or twice, but it will stop stalling afterwards

my 1.8 did this last year replaced the iacv on the throttle body worked fine since.
its when clutch is pressed it bypasses the throttle body tolet the engine idle... obv no throttle closed throttle body. they are known for getting full of carbon

I own a 2.0 ESP so I don't know too much about dump valves but on an ordinary 2.0 the symptoms would be exactly the same as having a dodgy idle control valve.

i dont think a dv would cause it to stall it is just there to keep the turbo running whilst changing gear (dump air due to no pressue from engine)
common symptom from like you say aicv idle control valve on throttle body.
when throttle body closes on idle the control valve opens to let the engine breathe common sense no air no bang

Common problem on the Focus RS is the dump valve and occasionally the AICV, but after you resolve the stalling issues, wait for the missfire problems caused by either plug gaps or the MAF sensor

Ive had a collins atmos DV on mine for 2 years now, it never stalls but has developed a mis-fire recently, I didnt realise they were that bad for the MK1 RS Focus?

If you know what you are doing then clean the icv as its easier than trying to change
it if you dont

My moneys on that, or a split vac pipe.
