Default helpp? fiesta xr2i

so i adjusted my valve clearence earlier started my engine up and the tapping wernt as bad as i was but still noticable so i took my rocker cover back off and tightened my valves another half, 3/4 more and the tappings completely gone, will this be okay?

an xr2i cannot have its valve clearances adjusted in standard form, wether its a 1600 cvh or a zetec they both use hydraulicaly adjusted lifters. so has yours been modified?

ohh maybe im wrong then :/ i have the 1600 cvh and it was making a rather loud tapping noise and i tightend the rockers and the noise just stopped??

the 13mm nuts that the rockers pivot about? they should be tight lol.

lool i feel so stupid, see im new to cars just brought my first car my xr2i and when i took the rocker cover off the rockers were really loose and i thought they had to be a set tightness, so how tight should they be?

there will be a set torque figure for these, but they should be at least 15-20 nm id say, as tight as any m8 bolt

the fact they have come loose is one of three things,
a, they were not tight in the first place
b, they came loose due to not having any "locking" effect like a nyloc nut
C, by far the worst, the threads have stripped from the head and the stud is pulling out, quite common, a helicoil is the only way to fix.

Also my cars smoking a little I've replaced the valve stem oil seals, what else could it be?

My rocker cover gasket has gone, got a new one on the way would that have anything to do with it?
