Cool Mk1 Fiesta Turbo

Hi Guys,

Does anybody have any pics or links to build threads of any mk1 Fiestas running a CVH turbo, preferably MFI...as i know of one hiding in a barn, proper little barn find but probably needs a small amount of work. I've done a search on here and a few other forums but can't really find anything spectacular or what i'm looking for.

I'm half tempted to sack off my Bonus for the mk1 as i haven't really spent a great deal yet on anything on the Bonus that cant be swapped into a mk1 fiesta shell (i.e suspension etc).

But before i decide i want to see what kind of job it is to fit everything in that tiny bay. I know i'll need to chop the inner wing up and i'll need different driveshafts (mk2 xr2?), and i don't think my GRS will fit which will be a bit of a bummer. Looking to see the amount of work involved, if it'll be a PITA i'll just stick to the Bonus for now.

Anyways any links or pics greatly appreciated.

Cheers Guys

There's some info in the haynes book about turbo's/superchargers with reference to the xr2 turbo.

Cheers Tabetha, is that the CVH rebuild & tuning manual or just the normal haynes manual for a Fiesta?

I done one years ago and done it the hard way.
Was a fairly unique conversion back then (19yrs ago)

I used escort stuff for mine and had to make all my own mounts, do the chassis leg mod etc etc.
That stuff you can buy now from the likes of Fiesta Centre so the fitting is fairly straight forward.
Fiesta Turbo stuff fits much easier as you wont have to cut the front cross member.

If its a good shell then do it. They are a total hoot.
Make it something like a supersport rep.

mk2 xr2 ones will work ( driveshafts )
you will need a swirlpot fuel tank ,
upgraded fuel lines , xr2 mk2 ones will work
everything fits in the bay , it is tight but goes in

Cool cheers for the replies guys, i'll take a look at xrtwo.com and fiesta centres website and take it from there.

It's a white shell, so if i decide to do it. i'm thinking simply lowered on rs-4 spokes and an RS option splitter if i can find one.

Fook me that looks mental. Would there be anyway of fitting a decent sized intercooler subtley, or is the only option hanging them out the front?

Cheers for the pics bud

No worries mate, it was/is one fookin awesome car, the new owner is now using it as a hill sprint car.. We did try to hide the intercooler but there just wasn't enough room. Turbo was just way to close to the rad... So we decided to just let it all hang out and go way over the top....

When we did it we had one moto.. If ya gonna do it do it properly.. Ended up with everything you could think of.. quaife lsd / Wilwood bias peddle box etc etc..

We are also good mates with MK from here and the challenge was to get as close to or better than his.. After a while tho we gave up as MK just kept pushing and pushing his to the extreme...

Be warned it is NOT as straightforward as a Mk2 - the engine bay is about 3-4inches smaller from bulkhead to front panel than a Mk2. So if you go for a larger T3 or T4 you need to start getting a bit fruity with rad positions.

i.ve got a loom for it if you do go ahead , allows it to use standard fiesta electrics and run an mfi turbo all lebelled and ready to go,
i started the conversion and then sold the car but being honest its not that bad once you get started
the easiest way to mount the engine is to use standard rs engine mount and a special sleeve nut that fits through the eye of the mk1 mount and down to the threads of the mount
mk1 fiesta is a good site aswell, guy called panko recently had one for the track it was less hi tec than bombers but more of a sleeper at the same time
would shock a few people
good luck

When I looked at the first Piccy of the fiesta I thought it looked a little bit shonky. But when you actually look at the work that has gone into both of those motors its awsome.

I bet those cars are a good laugh.

What power are they running?

We never had it on a rolling road was always live mapped by Tommy Field. It scared a few cossies and gave my M3 a run for its money.. We recoken it was about 250ish but was really set up for torque rather than BHP....
