I had a standard clutch start to slip when mine was running 185bhp and 220 torque at flywheel.

I would say a standard clutch its on its limit at around 170bhp, but have known some ok at a bit more but certainly not many.

I fitted a LUK with a skimmed flywheel last year and only slipped after a couple of standing starts at a Bar of boost on a totaly standard engine.

Didnt slip after mind!

with your cam etc i would go for an ap organic set up!

So my stage 1 setup should be ok on my standard clutch with organic friction plate...?
Maybe even my target 180bhp would be ok on it too!

Oh... Well we'll see how we go for the time being i think! Its due a gearbox soon, got an uprated BC with Ricardo LSD to go in, so be an excuse to upgrade the clutch aswell!

its not the BHP its the torque that slips it, you can make as much power as you want and it wont slip, as soon as you make too much torque it will slip.

the above is true, but going on the same engine specs, then i'd say 170+bhp would be a gamble on a new LUK clutch kit on a skimmed flywheel.

My standard clutch (LUK) slipped @ 205ft.lbs after a few runs at santa pod.... Not badly, but enough to make me buy a better clutch.

you dont need a lightened flywheel on a cvh as they are pretty light as standard, plus having driven a few road cars with lightened flywheels, my advise would be dont bother, it makes them horrible to drive and you dont actually gain much for it
