To be honest mate its not really needed to uprate the brakes on a 1.1 too drastically id get myself some calipers off of an xr2i and fit them with a new set of disc's and pads and they should be more than upto the job

thanks for the advise but iam getting a 2.2 race spec mondy engine in a couple of mouths after a small rebuild of a bent valve or two so iam looking for something with a lot of stopping power for the new engine but money is really tight at the mo so iam looking at a scrapyard job with the hope that a friend gives me the money he owes me i will be getting some 6pot calipers and drilled and grooved discs to keep the thing under control when i come to a corner.

my main consern was if the set up would work fitting wise if you get my drift mate.

Fair play to you, cossie stuff will bolt up but you would need atleast 15 inch wheels to clear them or you could go for mk3 mondeo calipers with focus st170 disc's but i think you need atleast a 16inch wheels to clear them

All Mk3 Fiesta brakes are the same.

6 pots would be a complete waste of money on a festa, some decent 4 pots are more than enough, combine these with some decent yellowstuff pads, and grooved/dimpled/drilled discs and braided lines with DOT 4 fluid.
DON'T use dot 5 or 5.1.
The festa simply doesn't weigh enough to need 6 pots, even std cast cossie 2wd 4 pots would be way more than up to the job.

thanks again guys i was looking at the suspension and hub i know i would need bigger wheels but i was unsure of size.

if i were to go above 15" wheels iam concerned about speedo error because the old girls ganna be road legal and i cannt get any speeding fines or i wont keep my job. i was woundering if programming the ECU on my new engine will correct this or not as vauxhalls you can program them to run on different sizes and it corrects any speedo error. (the guy iam getting my new engine doesnt know anything about cars he just drives them.

Mk3 festa speedo is purely mechanical, this can be modded, speedy cables charge around £50 to do this, simply send them your wheel size, gearing and diff etc, they will sort you out, or by keeping the profile, lower profile tyres will help everything and keep the gearing nearer,
www.kabamus.com/garage/gears.html
is a good site, simply input you tyres size etc and find a near equivalent overall size, say a 195-50-15 in place of a 165-13 etc.

i had some very bad news just before my weekend started. the engine i was going to put in my car was nicked from my mates house .
little tw*ts. oh well,
so now iam going to have to build my own rocket of rust. all weekend i was serching forums and old mags to see what engine would fit in the car and has the most power potentail. now where the problems start, i could go for the very nice 2.1zvh add some race cams, forged piston ect. or spend more money and a lot of very hard work and get a cossie motor and tune that up and try and fit it.

i want to try and keep the girl look crap so if i find a saxo sitting at the lights i can see their jaws drop when they see a standed motor burn rubber and leave them at the lights wondering what the hell just happened.

all opinions welcome i may turn the rust bucket into a full blown racer (not decided yet lol)
