L6 ECU...mines broken..litteraly.
well I'm kinda in a jam... so take this more as a plea to you uk guys... I was doing some work on my ECM (kept blowing a diode on the ground bus) so I had the cover off it. My girl friend needed to go somewhere so I just plugged it in as was and we set off... of course even though I told her "DON'T TOUCH THE ECU!!" she had to step on it.. and snap the circut the board. I've been trying to track one down in north america but I think I'd have a better chance of being given a Ferrari F40. I've tried craigs list UK with no luck, and Ebay as well.. so far I've found only 1 ECM in a price range I can afford and the seller won;t ship to Canada. Does anybody on the board have or know of a spare L6 kicking around they are willing to let go of?
May be worth a pm to Roosie as he's usually got shed loads of cossie bits lying around, could always use a L8/tps and swap the tps wires around, would give a lot more choice, but should be easy to find a L6, I'll have a ring around for you over hear and ask if they'll ship.
Alternatively are you near any AFB ?

no air force base around here, I'm pretty sure canada only has about 4 planes anyways...
I'll take an an L6 or L8. They just need to be within a price range I can cope with right now.

Martin is right, but you'd have got TWO L6 ecus with the Ferrari!.
Well i've had a look and i've got a few spares but there not off the 2wd cossy,1 is off a Lancia delta hf turbo 8v 2.0 and the other is off a Fiat croma 2.0 8v. NA.
I ran the delta ecu on my old Vw golf 2 turbo16v and it went ok,only running 1Bar boost though.
They are both Weber L6 non cat. ecus so theoreticly, using your cossy's eeprom, you should be fine.
If you could post up a photo of your L6 motherboard i could compare them and see if there are any major component differences.

Major difference between a Ford ecu and a Fiat/Lancia ecu is communication.
Ford uses a flashing light for codes, Fiat/Lancia can communicate with a scanner.
I have seen a couple of Fords that blew the diode on the ground, but they also would have the track between pin 19 and the diode damaged. This was caused by a missing ground strap between engine and chassis. Check your grounds very carefully!

I am pretty sure the hardware would be exactly the same, seen as it's the same ECU as you say it's the software which will be different but good to know for sure.

I have a level 6 ecu as a spare . I actually bought it before the car for a previous project that was sold , probably 10 years ago now and its sat about my house ever since. I recall the car it came from before it was stripped due to damage , the engine fired up lovely. I paid Ł125 with an unknown stg1 chip from a trusted friend. I have never opened it up.
I was thinking of an idea. I personally would have it tested by a well known ecu specialist before i sold it to somebody , dont think that would cost too much if its all ok .
I would send it to them as i know they can do this . Maybe it could be passed on along with newer/better chip at same time etc etc?? What chip do you have ? The sticker on mine it is unclear right where it says what type (w45.01 or w45.06) It must be a level 6 (white mixture screw)
Let me know what you think , pm if you like or keep it here , i,d rather check ecu instead of ruining someones pride and joy etc plus you know its all in good order , as said ecu has sat for 10 years .
I did put the company i would use but not sure if thats ok to do , i,m sure an arrangement can be made somehow mate
Edit - i see its a stg1 colins chip now haha . I also dont have a price in mind as such and i,m not in a rush as such for any . The ecu maybe duff by now who knows so dont worry about that for now , i,d rather it be used to help someone out . Christ, I panic about finding things in Essex/uk ffs haha let alone Canada .

ya this is my daily driver to so having parts like this go really puts a damper on things. The chip I have is really unkown.. it says stage 1... but my boost gauge only read 9PSI at the best of times. Driving the car it felt like 200BHP at MOST...
I don't see any problems with the board, when i clock off i'll check again.
The only thing that needs doing to my spare board is just re-soldering back in a spare injector driver that was removed for another ecu,i'll include a spare 1 for you anyway,if not just disoloder 1 off you board as they are the same.
Send me all your details for posting it off to you in Canada and i'll let you know how much it'll cost to post.
I'll throw in a spare eeprom for a two door cossie that i bought off ebay as when i tried it it ran pig rich, the eeprom was mapped for Bosch 803's,3Bar map sensor etc.
Lastly,i ran this spare ecu/board on my car even without the little driver present,it may have been the IAC valve's driver anyway,it'sthe first 1 nearest the CO screw.
PM me all your details.
