the things i look at when changing a waterpump when the belt is off is how old is the pump?? what condision does it look/feal in?? how many miles has it done?? and does the price of a new one warrent taking the belt off in 6 mounths when its leaking?? imo change it for pice of mined if the price is not to bad..

im not to sure on the water pumps but im 99% sure they are the same

cossy water pumps run off the fan belt not cam belt
they can be changed without taking off the cam belt so can be done at any time
the 4x4 and 2wd water pumps are completely differant
look at your thermostat housing,
if its got 1 pipe you need a 2wd waterpump
if its got 2 pipes you need a 4x4 waterpump

The easy external way to tell apart is the location of the alternator bracket lug/feed pipe.
The pumps can be used in each others blocks, the 4wd pump has MUCH more flow capacity.
The stat housing means nothing as regards the water pump as there can be a mix of 2wd and 4wd head/blocks.
Personally if it was ok I would leave it, even new ones can fail, what's worse a old working one or a new unknown one ?, as said very easy to change without disturbing belt anyway.
