What fooking Turbo?
I am stumped as a GT42 is a 1000bhp turbo whatever exhaust housing used its just toooooo big for a YB
and been recommended NOT to use it......instead to go for a T66 or T70 NON roller bearing..this is from a pro's mouth before you all start saying its bollocks
They reckon it will spin up around 500rpm later than a T4 and be good for 700bhp...quite cheap to me aswell
Anyone got any knowledge on these for a YB?

GT42 is NOT always a 1000bhp Turbo
There is 2 compressor options, the smaller of the 2 is rated at 850bhp max.
And when you say T66 or T70, that means as little as T4, theres varients with 100s of bhp difference between them...

Is what on a YB?
Aside from the ex housing options, GT42s have 2 compressor options which is what changes the ratings- a 850bhp version, and a 1000bhp version.
For T66s and T70s, well it depends how fancy and efficient they are for their size, i know of certain "T70"s that have been proven at 930bhp (no nitrous).
When it comes down to it, all these T66, T70, T76, etc etc are all "T4 series" based turbos (generally T4S or T4H) just with various wheels, housings, etc etc to make them into whatever.
Even HKS call one of their turbos the T4Z and thats rated to over 700 (Again, a Garrett T4 based turbo)

...I meant the GT42...an 850 and 1000bhp versions is that on a YB figures?...If it is 850bhp is still toooooooo big for an 8000rpm limit!Probably looking at a 6k boost up

Phil,
As you prob already found out, if you ask different people, you will tend to get different answers.........
Can Mark Shead not give you a definitive spec for the turbo required for the job that you want your engine to do??????
Otherwise it's looking like you've made no progress since the first of these posts over 2 months ago:
"GT35 or GT40 or 42???"
"Just ordered my rods and turbo delivered"
"GT35 on it's way!"

Basicly as youl be running big boost on the smallest possible turbo needed (so you got a decent powerband) its efficiency youl be wanting.
GT Series, Precision GTS, Turbonetics SuperT, etc etc

I need a 5000 to 8000rpm rev band at the very minimum really.
Chip at present the engine is now NOT looking cheap...i just gotta commit to what spec i am gonna go...although 650-700bhp is the aim.
