boost hose clamps
Just wondering what are the best ones to get and who is the best (cheapest! Lol) person or place to get them from? They need to have a high clamping power the car will be running 2.3 bar of boost.
Standard clips will be fine for that sort of boost pressure as long as the hoses are the correct fitment and length, i did over 40psi from a T4 on std clips with no issues at all.
If you want funky ones, iirc owen developments do them

These are a very good clamp. Better than average Jubilee, but maybe not quite as good as a T-bolt clamp.

But you should have no issues with quality clamps and a good bead on each solid pipe.

Are Mikalor ok to use for all other pipe work and they are just crap for boost pipes??

the like to be on perfectly straight, with the exact size hose and tails. Jubilees will go on at slight angles and take up some discrepancys. plus ive found that the higher pressure exerted by jubilees due to their smaller surface area helps them seal better. I have approx twelve mikalors on my boost system, and im sure i have more than one boost leak..... time to change them over me thinks

Any decent motor factors or fasteners place will be able to supply decent jubilee clips.
SCS/Hi Grip are another good brand. Just get the stainless versions as they are stronger.
The main problem with Mikalor, is the steel band and overlap is far far too thick.
Buy a decent thin banded T-bolt clamp and the circle is virtually smooth with no steps. Same as with a normal style clamp.
The likes of these are much better than the bulky Mikalors

Much thinner band, and the section at the overlap which is the most important bit is virtually smooth and round.

I'm now on Owen developments fancy boost clamps, I think MSD recommended them years ago, MIKALOR are too wide for the the amount of clamping force possible and as above that lip is too thick and they don't seal properly all the way round. A decent stainless jubilee clip does nicely, and use a spanner to do them up NOT a screw driver (pet hate)
