Golf VR6 question
the golfs are a 2.8 and i believe the have about 174bhp, dont know how heavy they are, but as said above... too heavy lol!
Corrado VR6 is a 2.9 though, slightly better torque if i remember right!

174 for the 2.8, allegedly 185 for the Highlines and Corrados, but the Highlines generally seem to make a bit less than the 2.9.
Corrado has slightly different management, coilpacks, 2.9, and a larger throttle body, if memory serves Highline just gets the management.

They're okay. I like mine... sometimes.
0-60 in about 7s, and it'll take so much abuse without problems. *touch wood* lol... fuel consumption is utterly pathetic for the power though. 19mpg around town, can dip to 16.

My older brother own a really nice 2.8 Golf VR6. I personally think they are really nice motors for everyday driving and produce ooodles of low down torque making them really effortless to drive. Handling isn't too bad as long as you don't go crazy lol. They are a totally different car to RS Turbos and cosworths etc. They are comfortable, quiet, practical and effortless to drive. The engine in standard for isn't really designed for all out performance but can be with the right mods and then its an animal.
Reason I posted the question was somebody my bro works with reckons they are 220bhp in standard trim. I knew this was BS but wanted to advise my bro of proper figures and not just a guestimate.
I'm seriously considering the VR6 motor for my A4 when I can kill the engine that's in it at the mo

I'm just going off what I've seen results from. The Highlines seem to make more power as a group, which makes me trust a bit in the claim that the differerent mangement does have an effect.
