Default Focus rs mk1 engine ticking

Hi all
Just Wondered if any one can help? When I start my focus rs mk1 up from cold It sounds a little ticky. Once warmed up it go's a lot quieter but can slightly still here a tick if I rev/ accelerate.
I thought I could either be a sticky tapet or injectors?
Would any one recommend running an engine flush through it and may be some injector cleaner?
Any help would b great!
Thanks ash

it has been mentioned before to avoid engine flush as this could spell disaster for a standard engine let alone a performance one.

i dont know about rs engines, but i had a similar issue with a 2.6 audi coupe. it was terrible after an overnight rest, i thought the cams were about to bounce out, but i got told as they were hydraulic followers they drain of oil and the first couple of seconds was before they filled up again. i was using semi synthetic oil and swapped over to fully synthetic and it seemed ok. im not advising, just what i found personally.

I am pretty sure the RS would have solid lifters, however they may need adjustment but if so I should think they would be noisy all the time, again not saying this is it as I know nothing about these engines and there common flaws etc but just saying possible suggestions from what your saying, I am sure someone who knows better will be along soon...

Just had another thought I know the charge coolers on these can be problematic is that possible?

Worn shims? What's involved in sorting that out?

His saying what I was that the tappets need adjustment, do a search on here as there a bit of mathematics involved, it basically involves replacing the metal shims on the tappets to give the correct valve clearances.
