Default bfrake lights stay on fiesta 3.5

I've been a very busy bee and worked on my car for 10 hours this weekend (see post https://passionford.com/forum/restor...er-things.html about what needs done).

However there's been an issue arise - my brake lights stay on all the time, unless I push the brake pedal up. I'm assuming there tension needs adjusting on either the pedal or the switch - which one would be advisable? Ive taken the switch out and put in my Mk3 switch (from the donor car) and it's a different size and is continually pressing on the brake pedal and therefore the brakes are engaged.

Any advise would be great.

Your brake light constantly on could be your brake fluid is low in the reservoir as there's a sensor on the lid I think. The is on the Mk4/5 anyway.

Not just adjust the switch down a bit to meet the pedal? :S

on my mk3 when you turn the ignition on the brake warning light goes on un plug the sensor on the brake fluid resovoir and it goes out.....

I can't start the engine to check what happens when the engine is running at the moment as I am half way through changing the engine mounts... and the new titainium nuts haven't arrived

Assuming the level is correct, I suspect there is a problem with the sensor?

Turns out that the switch is adjustable - it has ridges on the side which allows the switch to be held in place and moved. So all I had to do in the end was move the switch one knotch and the brakes now work!

I had planed to put a rubber mount on the brake pedal (one from the bottom of a computer, or laptop) but didn't need to!
