Depends on the mood of the old bill at the time. I would advise your friend to get it MOT'd before he/she goes to hand their documents in so they have something to show, then try and sweet talk their way out of it. At worst, points and fine, at best, a ticking off. I just hope your friend is good looking
first time they give you a rollocking in a letter which says something like this:
"blahblahblah road traffic act whatever date, construction and use regulations balh blah blah, it is an offence to use a vehicle with no mot blah blah blah could lead to prosecution blah blah blah.
however, as we value public support in policing the community, we will not be prosecuting on this occasion, but further offences of this criteria may lead to a court appearance blah blah blah"
been there done that with the letter. lol

Right.....speaking from experience here - so believe me! LOL! Tell him to go & get an MOT straight away & take that with him together with the expired MOT - be completely honest with them & make sure he tells them that he had not realised it had expired - you'll prob find that they'll let him off (as long as it aint months & months out of date!) - because you dont get a reminder about your MOT so people often forget apparently!
I got told this by the local police when myself & a friend tried to 'avoid' getting into bother!!

well its none a endorsable offence and as for the invalid insurance my mate got done from driving with out a licence and as he had insurance they never done him for that even though he never had L plates on and no passengers with him
he was sent to court for no insurance and no licence but got 3 points for no licence and they canceled the no insurance charge as he did have some
oh and a back dated mot will be checked when he produces and if hes "doctored "it or got a mate to write one in a mot book after when the old bill ask for proof for court he will get done for fraud
thats why i spent sooo long trying to MOT my orion as no fooker wants to take the risks anymore as the MOT bosses are alot more strict
but it deffo is just a fine

Dont back date it like i tryed to do, i then find out by a mate he can get MOT's for £12
Touch wood me & Lee aint heard nothing & that happened last Oct/Nov.
As Lee said, just got the car MOT'd straight away & plead guilty for doing wrong. As long as the lad has not had any previous, he should be ok.
Hope all gets sorted mate.

this makes me sound like I think these are a good thing, just need to reliterate that I do not condone dodgy MOT's.. especially on cars like ours

then what happens is 6 months down the line ya get a sumons for court to appear but ya could worse way be done for fraud, i know that the most comon way it when people doctor one and then produce with that and get done for a criminal offence and not a gerneral magistrates fine and fook off type offence
with out meaning to sound all high and mighty but scams like this me and my mates used to do all the time, hence why now days all my mates have a valid insurance as the old bill know if ya insured or nit by the computers fitted in the car as it tells em to tug ya
its just a 60 quid fine though
PS. no insurance is not a 200 quid fine at all, its at the discretion of the court as i got a 100 quid fine for not having valid insurance as my poilcy never had the turbo engine declared and they fined me 100 quid and gave me 6 points
, but the upside was the newer quote for the turbo engine went from 1200 quid for the year to 3 grand
so even though i got points i saved money being dodgy
, fair world we live in aint it
