Default passionbmw help folks

carrying on from my other post about which car to buy, my cousin has bought a 530 diseasal bmw, 2000 w reg

it's got a few issues though

speedo doesn't work
fuel gauge doesn't work
abs doesn't work
traction control doesn't work
asr (?) button doesn't work

considering he paid a grand for it he's not too fussed about stuff that hasn't worked but he'll obviously need it come mot time to make sure it goes through, so what are the options?

i'm thinking that due to the speedo not working it may mean that that's why the rest of the stuff is playing up?

I'd say more like the speedo doesn't work DUE to an abs fault.it could be that there's a speed sensor issue, rather than the other way round.

The traction control etc are all related to that so it makes sense.

Good bargain though, really cheap at a grand, engines worth more than that alone.

i used to have a 320d that done similar to this, if you code read it bet it comes up with can bus faults etc, i tried all sorts codes wouldnt clear, weirdly enough if i unplugged the ecu under bonnet reconnect it would then be ok, it had a hissyfit every couple months like this!! it did also have a pedal related code may well of been my throttle pedal playing up.
