RS_Rawlis story, 56k warning-massive post,
Was bored so thought id have a browse through some old pics and share them with you, got loads of 35mm pics that i could scan but im too lazy :P
First up, my mum and dads old xr4i, was immaculate in its day, owned it from 2 years old and sold it in 2002.
I had bought a full cossie kit (bumpers, arches, skirts, bonnet, grille etc ready to give it a new lease of life, but after being sat under the carport for 2 years unused it was a little worse for wear and eventually got sold for scrap - as a doner for a AC cobra kit car.
Originally it was graphite grey but was sprayed in about 97 pearl black, looked sweet as. Did have the original front bumper on it but an arguement with a trailer on an artic and my mum sorted that out and sourcing a replacement at the time was impossible, hence the Ghia bumper you see below
Claim to fame with this car, the sound of the exhausts was recorded for the "stuntman" game on the ps2, came down with all the recording gear and took some samples to lay into the game, still have the samples on the pc, sounds awesome

about as far as the project got in, before i put it back to standard

wouldve loved to make it look like d'ohs infamous black 4i

the stag, at the same time we owned a triumph stag, had two of these, over the space of 16years always owned one also. First one was a blue one with a rover 3.5 in, this one being a ford 2.8, was originally blue, but sprayed mazda metallic green as seen below, was on show at many classic car shows over the years, was sad to see this go also

whilst the 4i was made redudant, my mum drove an xr4x4 as it had powersteering, and was easier for her to drive, but this was crap so got sold after endless problems
during this time we aquired an immaculate 3door cossie replica, this thing was built on a new shell and had an immaculate interior and bodywork, shame about the fibreglass arches and bumpers, but the grille bonnet and whale tale was genuine.
the only picture i have of it was after its next owner, co-incidently fell into the hands of a friend of a friend
but looked a bit worse for wear, some idiot had cut 6x9s into the rear door cards too :@ :x

the plan was for my dad to run this for a year or two until i could drive, then put a 1.6pinto in it and let me have it, wish i had
Pretty soon it was time for a change, mums 4x4 was giving up and needed a change, she got offered teh rs2000turbo but declined it as she didnt like it, so we bought her an Audi 80 tdi on 17s, cant find the pics though.
meanwhile my dad was made up with the 3door until this came along...
My dads first RS as such

although it was in a state when we got it it turned out to scrub up quite well, with genuine full front end inc wings, and fibreglass back end it looked the part too, the rs2000 interior was replaced with cossie leather out of a written off lux and the car was tidied up and resprayed.
When the car was bought we was told it would run "280brake when its setup", this turned out to be a myth but it was still one of only 3 or 4 BBR turbo conversions done to the RS2000. Somewhere along the line though someone had removed teh piggyback management for some unknown reason and so we had some management issues and not enough capital to fund it. still making around 170bhp and plenty chatter it was still a good laugh and turned some heads.

with the xr4i completely abandoned now and me approaching driving age i had my first car bought for me....

it wasnt much, but it was mine, little did i know what would happen to it, i planned on it being a cheap project, to get me by until i could move onto bigger or better things...
below are a few shots of how it progressed

forward planning

as the years went by i had plenty modding ideas, many of which were well thought out and lots that were undecided, but i figured the ford theme was most suited.
Around this time my mum got fed up with driving a diesel and warranted a bit more fun
so bought an Audi TT, T reg, one of the first around in teh country, was imported by a neighbour and is stage 1 chipped (265bhp)

as time went by i started to mod the car, and various parts being swaped of replaced with new even on a budget, and after killing two valves on two seperate occasions on the old HCS engine i decided it was time for an engine change.
the initial plan was to 1.6 on 40s out of a 1.6s or xr2, but some money came my way and i bought a doner frst to use the engine out of.
£900 english bought me a lady owned frst with a sweet engine and no mods

which led to my car being gutted and a new wiring loom, electric pack and engine being fitted.

after numerous problems, mainly down to my driving i suspect, and the killing of 2 turbos it got made redundant to the "play thing" and it was aparent that 18mpg wasnt gonna suit me travelling to uni everyday, so off i was on the search for a "runaround", or so it started.
I came across this K reg, tourmaline green 1.8D fiesta in teh autotrader for a steal, local and in need of some tlc, fsh etc so off i was to buy it.

after routing around in the garage it was supplied with some uber-rare RS accesory bumpers, a frst kit, and a bonnet, other things added over time were an Si wrap around trim (for the comfort of course
) and a set of frst wheels among a lot of other random higher spec fiesta parts, now sitting 60mm low at the front its starting to look teh part, got the rears to do and a few other bits to sort out.

dont know how far im going to take it, but i do have plans for it
as for the turbo, well somewhere along the line it turned into this

with everything but the shell(roof, front and back wings), the headlights and the rear beam replaced
the plan is to do this years show season and try to get it feature, might even try to get the diesel featured when its finished.
as for the old cars
the stag still lives on
as does the audi estate
mum still owns the TT
and dad is now driving an E300TD merc
as for the rs2000 turbo, it was sold and someone ploughed into the back of it, so RIP J251YNO
and the xr4i was broken and used as doner, so i suppose it does live on
sorry for boring u with this, thought some people might be interested
but thats where my bug of fords and cars in general comes from, i do hope to move onto bigger and better things but no idea what
