Default Focus rs mk1 internals and head .

hello just have a couple of questions regarding the zetec engine in mk1 focus rs's , i no they have uprated internals over standard blacktops just wondering what there limit is would they withstand say 350-400bhp also it may be wrong but i read somewhere they've got forged pistons-rods , also remember reading somewhere that st170 heads flow better than standard rs ones aswell is this true?, sorry for the question just used to n/a engines .

thanks
nick

they have forged pistons as standard and should be up to the 350 your after. i dont know if rods are forged but should be up to your target. the st170 head does flow better and has bigger valves but are not sodium filled like the rs ones..also the st170 head has vvt.

just get some head work and cams along with the right turbo/manifold/ exhaust /injectors /airfilter / remap and the fuel pump on a frs is wank so you want an upgrade

seen quite a few cars running close to and over 400bhp with no head work or cams on standar dbottom end,

strong engine, but i personally would be wanting to upgrade above 370 -380 bhp,

cheers guys , yeh i deffantly plan on most of the above mods , most probably gonna go gt30 turbo wise , ive already got omex 600 to map it , gonna look into a place to get the head work done (can anyone recomend anywhere good) , other parts i'm looking to get include , custom down pipe , exhaust manifold was thinking somethink like a wrc spec one as space is going to be an issue at the front of the engine , probably hks airfilter as i've already got one lying about , deffantly a better fuel pump , and some bigger cc injectors .
also i know what you mean about wanting more bhp but the engines going in a fully stripped mk5 fiesta , so it should be pretty pokey
