Stat kit for corsa with housings about Ł13, they come together as you can't buy stat on it's own ( don't know if that's true from dealer).
We get folk in our motorfactors that go on like you and I think it's them taking piss not us as if we could get you the parts separate we would as we are there to help and make money off a sale, not take piss as you state.

some BMW's and even some mondeos have the same stat with housing as a design which is for a reason and not to get more money as you wont change it as much as a general cheepo stat

the seal is cause generally if you have a perished seal generally the other parts are also gonna be shite and some pins dont come out easy

bet your pissed off you need to buy brake pads in sets too incase you happen to have a seized caliper

personall i think selling kits is a better idea,,,,, who the fuck wants just 1 spark plug and who would change a headgasket and leave the rest of them

you know there is over 25 different parts to purchase when doing a head gasket on a transit,,, but you have to add EACH FUCKING PART NUMBER

gearbox but not supply the pinch bolts or hub nuts means some tight arses can bodge a job and have the wheels come loose on the hub carrier or lower arm to seperate

id rather kits,,,,, do the job properly with all the correct parts and not worry about snapping nuts ect when working on your car on a sunday afternoon so you cant finish a job

and it would still be 13 quid if it was just a stat just means that on a ford focus for example you will discover the stat housing becomes brittle and you then need to change that,,,,,, making the total bill of parts to over 120 quid with EXTRA gaskets too

the same customers also wont buy antifreeze as its not winter yet even though it acts as a summer coolant aswell,,,,,, this is why i dont deal with retail numptys and prefer the trade customers

People with single cylinder bikes/karts?

I agree about kits through, find it much easier to be able to buy 1 kit that meants I can complete a job, than buying bits then finding out I need one little extra thing half way through.

yeah,,, even worse when i mention to the people "yeah you need to change that when doing that job" as i ALWAYS get told " WHY DIDNT YOU FUCKING TELL ME THEN WHEN I ORDERED"..

i try to help but if im honest i aint a mechanic and all im trained is to look up the parts and supply what im asked for,,,,,,, its a bit shit but also true

i never used to offer antifreeze to customers who bought stats or water pumps as most garages have 205 litre drums of the stuff,,,,, retail numptys dont but you forget when you deal with 90% trade professionals and 10% moron,,,,,,, sorry customer's

good parts men are like gold dust
most of them are idiots(not all obviously)
been a mechanic for 14 years, and the partsman realy does make a differance,
when i was at vauxhall there was 2 differant parts monkeys that gave 4 plugs forthe 12v corsa's,
no matter how many times they got givin 1 back they never took it in,
and thats the dealers, if they dont know how many cylinders its got what chance have we got?

thats a school boy error on a pre pick system,,,,, doing 30 pre picks you tend to run on auto pilot
"oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug" "oil, air, plugs, sump plug"

hence i give 4 for ST's every now and again as its just habit,,,,, and all mechanics blame the parts for booking wrong parts EVEN WHEN THEY ASK FOR THE WRONG ONES !!!!

My sister needed a guide pin that goes through the bottom of the caliper on her punto,
because we lost 1.
Fiat only sold them in pairs, Ł21 for 2 pins, good job we found the old 1 lol.

job
Do ford not do the Cvh kits anymore then?I used to buy them with all the gaskets complete?complete timing belt kits as well and as a ford employee they were dirt cheap, from memory I paid no more than a ton for full gasket kit, timing belt kit and full service kit.was about 9 years ago mind you!!!

Some of the employee discounts are immense,I bought my mate a brand new ford turbo for his tranny for Ł530 all in,no exchange whereas it was over Ł900 to Joe public.

The other parts on the brakes are fine so are the pins, theres no need to replace the pins imo
And the housing and gaskit were fine aswell

I needed to replaced the brakepads as it failed on them being low on the mot,but i also changed the disks aswell

The one thing i didnt buy from them was the discs, they wanted Ł90 without pads,i found a company on ebay selling mintex discs and pads included for Ł45

I also agree that selling parts kits is a good idea so you have everything there needed to do the job properly.

A few years back I was working at a Seat dealer as a reporting technician (basically chief technician) and on those and most other VAG cars there are certain bolts, pipes and gaskets etc that need to be replaced when doing certain jobs. A lot of the bolts are stretch bolts so it's obvious they need to be changed. The other technicians never bothered ordering all the bits they needed so just refitted the old stuff which IMO is poor practice especially as we were dealing with new cars that are under warranty.

I got the hump in the end with getting other techs work and not having the bits to do it so ended up compiling parts lists for the partsman to refer to and build a kit so to speak when we had a certain job to order parts for.

The other techs still never bothered to fit the new parts which I think is piss poor tbh. Takes just as much effort to refit the old shit as it does to fit the new stuff!

Probably explains why I hardly ever had many comebacks I guess.

We had an Alhambra come back once after a cambelt with a broken block where the tech reused the old bolts, 2 sheared and the other remaining bolt took the strain and ending breaking the threaded part of the block off!!

No surcharge offered or taken?the turbo had a snapped shaft but this wasn't mentioned to the parts seller.could it be cos it's commercial parts?well, not important now anyway!!

Can you program the level of discount in?reason I'm asking is that I've had wildly differing prices from one dealership to the next and the most local one to me always spends ages typing in millions of numbers and is very reluctant to show you the parts screen, these always seem the most expensive to me,by a fair amount to?

Unfortunately they are the main stock holders so a lit of the time you have to use them.

discounts can be changed if your login allows aswell as prices too BUT the franchise would be fucked hard if they bumped up the prices from RRP if they go caught out

discounts are at the discretion of the dealer

We are only a retail dealer so are supplied by a main daealer(at first parts in normanton) . So don't get as much discount. can sometimes do better from another ford dealer as well.
