Default Series 2 project (with pics)

Here are some pics of my series 2, which is now about half way through being finished. More pics to follow as the beasts nears comppletion.

She has a rebored bottom end with mahle forged pistons and ground crank, fully ported big valve head, 285t cam and vernier, stage 2 hybrid, front mount large pace I/C, motorsport developments ECU, mongoose 3" stainless, baily oil seperator.

Suspension is koni on front with system2 Kybs on the back with powerflex bushes all round.

Brakes are cossie front and rear disc conversion with braided hoses.

I was gutted when my orion turbo was written off but maybe it was a blessing in disguise

This is me in our disused bodyshop at work.

A few parts waiting to be fitted once I find the time.

Just a bit of wiring to do, she used to run cossy management so I need to wire in all the KE-Jet stuff. Bring on the Haynes manual.

A bit more wiring.

A month with a wire brush and nearly a full tin of seam sealer to make sure all joints and egges are brotected from the dreaded rot before I use eleventy million coats of red hamerite.
Ain't no rust getting in this baby.

I will keep you posted with more info and pics.
Hope you like it so far.

Cheers chaps.

Deerhunter, better still, It is a ford maindealer.

And yes, well done it is a 1600i set up but unfortunatley I don't have the correct (early) gearbox casing to mount my engine in, so I will settle for the normal 24mm S2 set up.

Just out of curiosity, how much are the ARB's worth, because I have promised it to a mate.

She should be reet nice when finished, but I woll never be able to compete with you ZVH and Zetec boys. It's all getting a bit too expensive and far too tricky.

1600 will have to do i'm afraid. once m developments finish with it, like they did with my orion, she should be enough for most. (I hope).

Around the £100 mark I think, very rare indeed now adays.

You can fit the MK5 gearbox housing to your box (if that makes sence ) as it uses the same mounting as the MK3.

Someone like www.gearboxman.co.uk will be able to change it all over fairly cheaply.

It was only the MK4 escorts that used the cross member type of support.

Doh, Working for ford I should have known you can use the mkv box casing.

I have just rebuilt her aswell because I needed to put some new bearings in and my imput shaft oil seal was leaking.

I also splashed out on some vibra tech engine mounts to stop my exhaust ripping out my turbo bolts. So it probably ain't woth doing now. (bugger).

Cheers for the advice though mate.

The car used to run cossy management before I got my dirty hands on it.
I bought it with no engine and no engine wiring.

Which was a good find as I had just smashed up my orion turbo (courtesy of a blind OAP) and was left with a well sorted engine and wiring loom with no home to go to.
