fuel shut off switches

how do you reset the fuel switch on a mk5 escort??? my mother has just reversed into the o/s /f wing of my car and now it wont start???

not sure on that car, but most of them you just have to push the switch back in

ive tried pressing the button on the switch but it still wont start any ideas???
