Default best inlet for a cosworth

right i picked up my new 3dr cosworth the other day....

and took it for a rolling road session and it was ment to be mapped to 2.2bar but would only hold 1.6bar but made 414bhp and 416lbs and made the torque before 4k so is a realy lively engine concidering the gt35....

then we found that it has a hole in the top boost hose the size of a 5p so is dropping 0.6bar and will only boost to 1.6 and hold 1.5bar....

so i need a boost hose for a 70mm intercooler to gt35 turbo ?????? who does them

and i want to put a nice inlet on it as ive been told by alot of tuners with the boost leak fixed its a 500+ car ....

how much difference does a spacer make or should i just get a big plenum

cheers

I have a 70mm intercooler to Standard TB hose

Roose all the way for custom hoses, very very helpful and quick delivery.

What inlet manifold have you got at the moment ?

First off who tunes your car?

but as said get your hose from roose motorsport (You sure you dont need a 76mm hose?) http://www.roosemotorsport.co.uk/images/hy7.jpg

But with an engine of that spec it sure would benefit from a new manifold

if i didnt run a genuine swedish id have got a new heart plenum myself

once yours is done you should see 580+hp imo

yes but dont want to get jumped on so wont bother lol !

well youve seen the trend lately everyone not bothering with ported head and no cams, so to see 580 it should have both of the above

the car is as follows

fully rebuilt 200 block bottom end fully ported and worked head with custom grind cams..... engine built by grace engines (this was his own car)
ported inlet but with no spacer ect
gt35 external waste gate and screamer
1000cc injectors
autronic sm4 with wasted spark set up (twin coil packs) mapped by mark shead
70mm intercooler
anti lag
and the list is massive

its mapped for 2.2bar boost but due to the boost leak only holds 1.6bar....

but i realy like it with the leak as when it was 2.2bar is was scary lol and now its just rapid with loads of grip....

but stuff it im going for an inlet and remap from mark and he said the limit is 580bhp before i need an exhaust manifold change but i just want a nice 520/550bhp....

it was mapped at 2.2bar and has seen 520bhp before so just need a boost pipe...

the engine spec is good as it is better to drive in terms of response than my old t34 car...

starts making boost at 2600rpm and is at full boost before 3500rpm (when its not leaking lol)

and with the leak made 416lbs at 3850rpm and held on those numbers past 6k

will sort some pics soon as its got a wee dent in it due to the last owner spining the car at castle coombe so rather than just repairing im having the whole car done.... then some comps and ap brakes

Seems a decent spec it should see way over 500 as Doug says but obviously don't now how good the head is

What exhaust manifold do you use ?

You will also want the TB from the ST inlet as its bigger, i think they go for about Ł200

Hart inlets are around Ł450

I have a 14mm spacer if you need it, don't need to chop about the fuel rail lugs then either

Think its about 400 Pete, then a 4x4 upto around 450, then the ST Escos above that.

Might be talking bull$hit as well lol

My advice would be that if you only want 520/550, id downgrade the turbo to a GT30:76 the same as mine. you will find quicker spool up just not the top end power that the 35 is capable of. although that 35 dose seem to spool rather well if that is correct?....

and id also check the inter cooler before you order a hose as the 70mm you put is most probably how thick it is as apposed to the end pipe size, there more likely to be either 63mm or 76mm

Id even hazard a guess that you are on a 2wd ex manifold as there is no way you would get that power from one of the 4x4 variety!!

its got a modded manifold with spacer plates to fit gt35 and tial (massive) wastegate with screamer pipe and MAD have said it will do 580bhp but the inlet is standard but fully port matched to the head....... so need to uprate...

ive been quoted for the hart inlet larger and remap Ł700+vat fitted and remapped and have been told it should see 550bhp with it...

but the gearbox needs uprating first so recommendations welcome please been looking at cts big tooth with uprated folks and a reyland hydrulic clutch set up

pig knows the car it was his mates and as he says when it runs the 2.2bar its rapid

What is your budgit for the box? if you want to do it cheap, maybe use your box till it brakes, then get a quaife stright cut gear set for around a grand+ fitting or you can get a helical TKO from the states... Reyland can sell you this on the shelf for around 3/3.5K

plenty more if you want to spend 10K+ but i doubt it
