I call it Peterboghorror........but then I'm a P' taking sarcastic git. Basically, same as anywhere else - some good places and some real rough places. Close to A1, A14 if that opens up possibilities for other local villages etc.

Peterborough is a very nice and clean city centre compared to alot of other places.
The only down side at the moment is that ALOT of immigrants were housed there in the last 2 years and the crime rate has gone through to roof!
Ive lived in and very local to there all my life and have always like it there.
If you have a decent amount of cash to spend then there are loads of good villages/towns within 25 miles.
Some of the nicest:

(Villages)
Warmington
Elton
(Towns)
Oundle
Stamford

There are also alot of nice areas on the outskirts of the city, Orton Waterville and Hampton are very nice.

Areas around the city to avoid:
Dogsthorpe, Paston, Welland estate

Melv, your only an hour from me then dude

Some friends of mine come from there, and they still prefer to go down the to do the 'non food' Shoppin rather than Lincoln, they explaind it to me as the Fenland Milton Keynes, lots of roads going nowhere in particular...

Imigrants are are problem thruout the Area... Boston, Peterborough, Spalding etc it's because they are cheap labour on the land factories...

Did you say PE2 or 27? cuz the PE postcode covers a massive area!!

Thrapston is ok, but its a good 45 min drive to peterborough if you want to get there or back for normal 9-5 working hours. The A605 is a really crap slow road with a fair few speed cameras and also a red route which means lots of crashes and black spots.
Not a road I would want to travel on every day!

Orton Goldhey is ok, but there are quite afew dodgy little cul de sacs around there.
I had some mates who lived around there, it wouldnt be my first choice.
The best of the Ortons are Waterville, Longueville, Wistow but i think theyre quite expensive. Next best is probably Brimbles, Southgate and Malborne

I live in Peterborough. Walton to be precise and it is a pretty good area although close to Paston which isn't as bad as it used to be. Orton Goldhay is a pretty big area and some of it is good and some bad. On £110k I wouldn't consider buying a house in Orton. Werrington/Walton are good areas and houses can be had on your budget. The roads round here are pretty good, so if you were to choose a location just outside P'boro then you would be ok. However, properties in local villages are very expensive. Crowland which is about a 15 minute drive from the centre might be a good choice.
