i was looking at getting the RST insured, all mods declared, only driven to and from track days, (no insurance on track) and once a month to beds meet, and got turned away from loads of places and premiums higher than my cossie, HIC gave a good quote tho, but i am now thinking of buying an A frame and towing the fooker

the only insurance that is mandatory will be provided by the organiser , for basically death !!

you can be insured for all types of motorsport , usually works out to be more than the car is worth , ( unless you got a wrc ? )

Tiff, with the old black shed, i had a policy with Adrian Flux, all mods declared and track days included. Was about £800 for 3rd party which I didn't think was too bad.

The cossy is fully comp through dominion, agreed value, and this covers RSOC track days only. When I did redline in november i spent an extra £90 insuring basically the shell for £7000. It would have been £150 for the whole car just for a poxy day.

You then drive home without a scratch and wonder why you bothered, but then sods law something will happen the day you don't insure it. Can't recall who I did it with but they were a specialist for track/competetion cars.

Tiff I assume you mean norma road insurance but for a track equiped car? If so Adrian Flux sorted a mate of mine out no probs, he has a caged-up Mk1 Astra track car and it costs him about £800 with no track cover. The year before LiverPool Victoria insured him for £300 with a nitrous kit declared

if someone hits you on track its hard luck!

as for road insurance... read your paperwork carefully... HIC offer std trackday cover but in some cases your excess hits £1000 for the WHOLE DAY, not just while you are on track! So an accident on the way home leaves you needing to find a grand!!

The car needs to be insured by someone to be able to do that legally ginge

I have TPFT road legal cover, agreed value, and inclusive cover on MSA sanctioned events. Cost under £300 per year with Coversure Group, but it will need a competition log book with them. For trackdays I sometimes take out extra daily insurance with http://www.moris.co.uk if im not driving it Most trackday only insurance will not allow you to tax the vehicle, always worth remembering....

Other specialists are Richard Eggar at http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/index.htm
