Yep engines and sensors are identical (apart from cylinder volumes) so the loom will be the same, so ECU and engine you should be good to go,

You'll need to keep the clutch and flywheel from the 1.8 and you'll need to use the injectors from the 1.8, the MAF sensor will detect the increased volume of air and make the fueling alterations needed, you don't need a new ECU. It's very straight forward really.

if your changing the box aswell you'll need the 2l drive shafts, gear stick and linkage as its lift up reverse.

2 litre uses a different gearbox from the factory (mtx75 I think), but I imagine the IB5 from the 1.8 will be fine.

So few posts, so much confusion.

If you're changing the box to the 2.0's MTX75 then it's a massive job, you'll need just about everything from the 2.0's engine bay. If you keep the IB5 then it's very straight forward...you just do what I said above.

1.8 and 2.0 driveshafts aren't the same, the splines are different.

OK cool i think il keep the IB5 for now, so i can just get a bare 2.0 (cylinder head, engine block and sump) and swap everything over?

Yep, it should be fairly simple.
