Default Am I right to be concerned - TV install

At work we're having a new control room built. As part of this 3 46" Samsung LCD TV's have been mounted on the wall. One of these sets has been mounted 50mm under a wall mounted air conditioning unit. This is ringing alarm bells with me.

Anybody clued up on such things that can advise?

It shouldn't be a problem when everything is workig right, but if there is a problem then things are going to get fucked up. Either move the telly or the ac unit, boarding it up in the middle won't stop issues like leakage from fucking the telly up

Was there anywhere else to put it?

It's not great if the ac is discharging down onto the display as there'll be a big temperature gradient inside which could cause condensation. That and the potential for leaks, of course. But if that's the only place they could go, or where the client (your boss, presumably) wanted them, then so be it. If you're particularly worried you could install a gutter of some kind below the AC unit.

Also are these actually TV's or proper commercial displays?

our air con unit at work has a little pump in it to pump the water away as in it has to go up hill, this pump failed one day and we had a pool of water in the shop. hope the same doesnt happen to yours.

The condensate pump in the A/C unit will fail at some time and the drip tray will overflow so the screen is doomed.
It's only a problem for the TV, it's not a problem or safety risk for you.

pff we have air con in every room, if they all leaked they would wreck every computer in the company
we dont go thru many computers
also the ac units dont 'spray' directly down, they come out at about 45 degs from the wall as cold sinks the air would circulate upwards where the telly is

ask yourself when the last time the ac unit went tits up, then dont worry about it

Ask a refrigeration engineer how many times he gets calls to leaking A/C units, then worry.

I don't repair A/c units, but I repair other things in buildings that have loads of them.
I see plenty of them leaking especially when it's hot outside.
And none of them are mounted over anything electrical or anything else they could do serious damage to, unless you count food and people.

A/c units do leak; faulty pump is one reason; another is if the temp has been set to low which the A/C unit cannot achieve; especially if its warm outside

put a reliable tank pump under the a/c unit to take the condense and should be ok

if the AC unit has a drip tray with leak detection system also installed you might get away with it
