Default Cosworth Racing Pistons

Has anyone on here had any experience using these and are they worth the premium over the usual low-comp mahle jobs.

Hi dude,

I've got some in mine matey.
They are a bit noisey from cold due to the piston / bore clearance needed, but I really just bough them for peace of mind! They are 7.2:1, but with my head havbing been machined, it's about 7.5.
It's up to you matey, they are renowned to be one of the best- you pays your money, you takes your choice!
Regards

I don't think you 'll be doing that unless something disastrous goes wrong!!

What spec are you planning to run?

as you will hear in the futrue no doubt, If there is something wrong with your fuelling it dosnt matter if you have mahle or cosworth pistons in there they will both melt if things are not right!!

The cosworth racing piston is the better quality and they come 7.2:1 already , but if you have melted mahles and you havnt fixed the problem then you will melt these

was running standard compression with 1.8 bar max boost on greens.

took the head off at the weekend and found number 2 piston had melted and part of the bore. I realise that perhaps this was a bit too much boost for the spec but this is the way the previous owner had set it up.

so i plan to rebuild using lower compresion say 7.2:1, BD10's, flowed head and fuelling with greys and a live map chip.

I run 7.5, greys, ported head and manifolds, 2 bar of boost and bd14's on both sides, and think that it's ok.
I know it's not the most up to date set up, but it seems to work ok for me!!
