Default rear brakes binding..

hey up..

failed MOT on rear brakes binding..namely the N/S. I stripped it down for a look and the pads were shot to the point of crumbling away.

everything else seemed ok, sliders were smooth, handbrake cable free an loose and the piston wound back with no hassle, so i put a new set of pads in an built it back up, bled the caliper for good measure but its still tight

I can just about turn the hub with the wheel bolted on. Is there anychance the abs pump could be applying to much pressure.? I cant think of what else it could be.??

has the car been stood up for a long time? i had the exact same problem with one i had that was left parked up. A good drive soon freed her up.

Could also be your handbrake is adjusted up to tightly

The normal problem with these calipers is the actual handbrake pivot shaft that links the arm where you put the cable on to the insides, these seize in the body, some new pads can be a bit tight as well.
